The family journal is one of the biggest new things in DreamAI. Until now the journal in the app was yours alone. Now, next to your own dreams and revelations, you can also keep those of a partner, children or friends, in separate spaces so that nothing gets mixed up.

In this article we show how the family journal works, how the app treats entries about other people, what happens to their privacy and how to talk about dreams with the people close to you.

In short: you add a person, choose whose dream or revelation it is, and the app keeps the entries apart. Each person gets separate AI context and memory, and their entries are neither visible to them nor mixed into your own journal.

Why a family journal

We often tell each other our dreams over breakfast, and then they vanish as fast as our own. If a child describes a dream that worried them, or a partner keeps returning to the same motif, it is worth writing down. A family journal lets you:

  • keep different people’s dreams apart instead of one long list where after a month nobody remembers who dreamed what,
  • see recurring themes for one person, because each has their own history of entries,
  • keep the dreams and revelations of people you care about in one place, in an account you control,
  • share a practice, for example family conversations about what each person dreamed.

How the family journal works in DreamAI

The idea is simple. In the app you add people: a first name or nickname and, optionally, the relationship, such as “husband”, “daughter” or “friend”. When you save a dream or revelation, you choose whose entry it is. The app saves with each entry who it belongs to.

Entries of other people are kept apart from your journal. They have their own context and their own AI memory, a separate summary of the motifs and threads of that one person. So the analysis of a child’s dream does not reach for your dreams, and the analysis of a partner’s dream does not get mixed with someone else’s history.

Data about other people is stored in your account. It is not visible to the people concerned. It is used only to separate, show, export and interpret the entries.

How AI treats entries about other people

When you use AI analysis on another person’s entry, the app handles it differently from your own dream:

  1. in the third person, as that person’s dream and not yours,
  2. using only that person’s entries, without reaching for your dreams or mixing in other people,
  3. without inferring religion, faith or health of that person. The AI is explicitly told not to infer or record these.

Remember that AI analysis is inspiration for reflection, not a diagnosis or a prediction. For important matters, especially those concerning a child, ask a person: a parent, a teacher, a pastor or a specialist.

Privacy and responsibility

When you write down other people’s dreams you are recording personal data, so the responsibility is yours. A few common-sense rules:

  • Enter only information you are entitled to store about another person.
  • Be especially careful with information about children. The dream and the feelings are enough, with no unnecessary detail.
  • Do not record sensitive details you do not need, for example about health or family circumstances.
  • If someone asks you to delete their entries, do it. You can delete them at any time.

When you delete a person, you choose whether to move their entries to your own journal or delete them. Each person’s dream memory is deleted when you clear memory or delete your account. The details are in the privacy policy.

How to talk about dreams with people close to you

The app is only a tool. Good conversations about dreams depend on tone:

  • Ask instead of explaining. “What did you feel in that dream?” works better than “that means…”.
  • Write down the person’s words, not your summary. Especially with children, their own phrasing is more valuable than a grown-up paraphrase.
  • Do not over-interpret. A strange dream is still just a dream. A recurring, disturbing motif in a child is a reason for a calm conversation, not for conclusions.
  • Ask for consent if the person is an adult. A partner’s or friend’s dreams are their business, and you are only the one writing them down.

Frequently asked questions

Can I keep the dreams of my husband, wife or children?

Yes. In the app you add people (a name and, optionally, the relationship) and choose whose dream or revelation it is. Entries of other people are kept apart from your journal, have their own AI memory and are not visible to those people.

Does AI guess the faith of the person whose dream it interprets?

Not for entries of other people. AI analyzes them in the third person, using only that person’s own entries, and does not infer their religion, faith or health.

What happens to the entries when I delete a person?

You choose: you can move their entries to your own journal or delete them.

Summary

The family journal in DreamAI gives each person their own place: separate entries, separate context and separate AI memory. That way the dreams of a partner, children and friends do not get mixed with yours, and you decide what to record and what to delete. Enter only what you are entitled to store, and treat AI analysis as inspiration, not a verdict.
